Pengertian

Balance sheet adalah laporan yang sistematis tentang aktiva, hutang, dan modal dari suatu usaha pada suatu saat (tanggal) tertentu).

Penyusunan neraca antara lain dengan maksud untuk menunjukkan keadaan keuangn (posisi financial) pada saat neraca itu dibuat.

Bentuk dan Susunan Neraca

Neraca disusun dengan berdasarkan pada suatu keseimbangan antara aktiva di satu pihak dan hutang serta modal di lain pihak. Keseimbangan ini sering disebut dengan persamaan dasar akuntansi (fundamental accounting equition).

ASSETS = LIABILITIES + OWNERS’S EQUITY

AKTIVA = HUTANG + MODAL

AKTIVA = PASSIVA

Merupakan hal yang sangat lazim, bahwa aktiva dan passiva disusun berdasarkan urutan likuiditasnya masing-masing., yaitu kemungkinan untuk mentransfernya (merubahnya) menjadi uang tunai.

Bentuk neraca dibedakan menjadi :

1.       Account form (bentuk perkiraan) / bentuk scontro
